Cloudcroft's only chef-driven special-occasion room — The Lodge's flagship, four nights a week, under Chef Richard Lepree's current restoration of the property's dining reputation.

The menu rotates; Prime Rib Nights run on a different cadence. Reserve through the Lodge dining page.

What I'd order

Plan the trip around this
"A Prime Rib Night. The one specific program locals flag as worth driving up for. Ask the reservation desk for the next date and build the evening from there."

Prime Rib Night · call for calendar

Off a regular Wed–Sat
"Ahi ceviche to start, prime New York strip for the main. Two items named specifically in recent coverage of Chef Lepree's current chapter — a reliable read of the kitchen's direction."

Ahi ceviche + prime NY strip

Before dinner
"Show up thirty minutes early. Order a cocktail at St. Andrew's. This is the room's rhythm — the pre-dinner pour is part of the experience, not a consolation prize."

Hours

Eighteen99 has a tight, consistent schedule: four nights a week, three hours per night. The Sun–Tue closures aren't soft — the room is genuinely dark those days.

Decision aid

Good for · skip if

Eighteen99 is the only special-occasion room in Cloudcroft. The decision isn't between fine-dining options — it's between "one occasion dinner" and something more casual.

Good for

  • Anniversaries, date nights, birthdays — any meal where the occasion matters more than the speed
  • Lodge guests who want one destination dinner on-property
  • Travelers who want one white-tablecloth night in a trip otherwise built around cafés and BBQ
  • Planning around a Prime Rib Night
  • People who enjoy the pre-dinner cocktail ritual at St. Andrew's Lounge

Practical notes

Reservations, timing & Prime Rib Night planning

Reservations are expected — Eighteen99 isn't a walk-in room. Book through the official Lodge dining page or by phone. The 3-hour service window fills fast, especially on weekends.

If a specific Prime Rib Night is the reason you're going, call the restaurant directly at (575) 682-2098 and ask for the next scheduled date. Build the trip around that reservation.

Dress, atmosphere & service

This is the only room in Cloudcroft where "dress up" is a reasonable instinct. It's not strictly enforced — a mountain town is a mountain town — but the atmosphere expects some intent. Service and kitchen output have meaningfully improved under the current operation (confirmed April 2026, local).

St. Andrew's Lounge inside the restaurant is the pre-dinner spot. Arrive 30 minutes early and order a cocktail.

Menu rotation & dietary notes

The kitchen programs different menus for different nights. The Wednesday card differs from the Saturday one. Specific dishes from recent coverage (ahi ceviche, prime New York strip, tuna tartare, Caesar, seared short rib) are illustrative of the chef's direction, not a fixed list.

Dietary accommodations aren't documented publicly — call ahead for allergies or specific needs.

Lodging, parking & The Lodge experience

The restaurant is inside The Lodge at Cloudcroft. On-site parking is easy. Lodge guests have the shortest walk (and the most reliable follow-on experience) — the stay-and-dine combination is the full Eighteen99 case.

Non-guests are welcome. Follow Corona Place signs to the main hotel building.

Editor's take

"Eighteen99 isn't one of several fine-dining options in Cloudcroft — it's the only one. That makes the judgment easier and harder. Easier: if you want a real occasion dinner, book it, no comparison shopping required. Harder: the room carries the weight alone, so the cadence of rotating menus, Prime Rib Nights, and Chef Lepree's restoration work all matter. Current signs are good. Reserve, arrive early, sit at St. Andrew's first."
