The shop started in 1996 as a small bike shop opened by “the 2 Matt’s” and has grown into a three-building business. That owner-supplied history fits its current identity: an established Cloudcroft outdoor retailer with real mountain knowledge, not just a souvenir shop.
If you need trail advice, a map, a layer, bike help, or outdoor basics, High Altitude is more purposeful than most Burro Avenue stores. At the same time, it also carries boutique clothing and gifts, which broadens the appeal beyond strictly utilitarian shopping.
