Ride at Altitude
The High Altitude Classic is recognized as one of the most scenic and demanding cycling events in the Southwest. Riders tackle challenging mountain roads through the Sacramento Mountains, climbing to nearly 9,000 feet through pine forests, past dramatic switchbacks, and along the stunning Sunspot Scenic Byway.
With Classic, Half, and Junior categories, there is a course for every level of cyclist. The race starts at 7:00 AM, and packet pickup is available the day before. Awards are presented at Zenith Park following the race.
High Altitude Classic

Classic
The full course for experienced riders. Tackle the complete mountain route with significant elevation gain through the Sacramento Mountains. This is the flagship event and the ultimate test of endurance at altitude.
Half Classic
A shorter but still demanding route covering roughly half the Classic distance. Perfect for intermediate riders who want the mountain cycling experience without the full course commitment.
Junior
A course designed for younger riders to experience competitive mountain cycling. A great introduction to altitude riding in a supportive, family-friendly environment.

7:00 AM start time for all categories. Arrive early for check-in and warm-up. Staggered starts may apply by category.
Packet Pickup
Packet pickup is available the day before race day. Pick up your race number, timing chip, and event materials in advance.

Getting There
Cloudcroft is 30 minutes from Alamogordo on US-82. Book lodging early as race weekend fills up quickly. El Paso airport is 2 hours away.
