Levain isn't on Burro Avenue. It's on US Highway 82, the road between Alamogordo and Cloudcroft, in the small mountain community of High Rolls. Levain It Up is run by Garrett Barnett and Steven Jackson. Cloudcroft Reader's January 2026 profile, "Rising to the Occasion: Levain It Up in High Rolls," frames them as transforming both the old building and their own lives through the bakery. As of April 2026, both are still running it.
That makes Levain one of the newer food businesses in the greater Cloudcroft market — closer in vintage to the recent wave of village openings than to the long-running Burro Avenue institutions.
