A New Era at Zenith Park
Grand opening: October 31, 2026, noon–10 PM. Operators Cory and Shea Herman open the James Sewell Ice Rink's new era with skating, face painting, a costume contest, trunk-or-treat, and giveaways — the same weekend as the village's Pumpkin Roll and Halloween parade.
The James Sewell Ice Rink at Zenith Park opens for the 2026–27 season with refrigerated ice for the first time. Southwest Sports Solutions of El Paso — operators Cory and Shea Herman — now runs the rink, and refrigeration brings a longer, more predictable season to the outdoor ice at 8,650 feet.
The first season is planned to run from the opening through March 2027 with five programs: public skating, learn-to-skate (from age 2), learn-to-play hockey, an adult recreational league, and figure skating. Hockey programs are affiliated with USA Hockey and the Land of Enchantment Amateur Hockey Association; figure skating runs under the Ice Skating Institute (ISI), with a beginner focus. Youth and adult hockey skate as the Sasquatch, and the rink hosts its first 8-and-under tournament, the Mountain Top Classic, November 7–8, 2026. Details reported by the Cloudcroft Reader.
